Ramona Fay (Grant) Durham

Ramona Grant Durham, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. She was born and raised in Chattanooga Valley/Flintstone, GA to parents Charles Roy and Mable Knight Grant.

Ramona was a graduate of both Chattanooga Valley High School and attended Walker Technical Institute and worked for over 40 years as a bookkeeper at different companies and retired from America Municipal Supply. She attended Chattanooga Valley Nazarene and Church at Fairview. Ramona was a devoted mother and grandmother.  Earlier in life, she was a pianist for the gospel singing group, the Victories Quartet consisting of Gene Durham, Roy Grant, Bernard Grant, and Hilburn Hodge.  Ramona loved to laugh and have fun.  She loved to play Bingo, and somehow always won lots of prizes.  She had an amazing sense of humor, sharp wit, and a beautiful laugh.  When Ramona retired, she moved to Fairview, TN for the next 20+ years.  In 2021, she moved to Birmingham, AL to a nursing facility to be near her daughter.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Roy and Mable Knight Grant, and her beloved dog, Precious.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Ron (Kisuk) Durham, Waverly, TN, Brenda Durham, Birmingham, AL, and Gary (Debra) Durham, Zionsville, IN.; grandchildren, Andrea Furkins of Lyles, TN, Todd (Stacey) of McEwen, TN, Dedrah Wilkins (Jessie Knalls) of Lyles, TN, Brittney (George) Patterson, of Landisville, PA and Paige (Boris) Perez of Noblesville, IN.; 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Dr. Roy (Beatrice) Grant of Athens, GA, Bernard (Barbara, recently departed) of Chickamauga, GA, Yvonne (Sam) Hood of Moncks Corner, SC, Thomas (Janet) Grant of Chickamauga, GA, and Larry (Debbie) Grant of Ringgold, GA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members; also several dedicated and loving nurses and caregivers at Greenbriar at the Altamont, Birmingham, AL.

A chapel service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 4, 2024 with Long time family friend Jim Buckner will be officiating. Interment will follow at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 4:00pm-8:00pm and Thursday 4, 2024, from 10:00am until the service hour at 11:00am.
